Finding Hope and Healing After Devastation in LA
As I reflect on the recent devastation in Los Angeles, my heart aches for the communities affected by such profound loss. My family and I were just in LA last week over the holiday break. Watching the news, hearing the stories, and seeing the images—it’s heart-wrenching.
LA is a city filled with dreams, diversity, and determination, but even the strongest places can be brought to their knees by unexpected tragedy. This destruction is a stark reminder of how fragile life can be, how quickly things we’ve built can crumble.
In our current season, I talked with Dr. C.J. Huff about his experience surviving the 2011 tornado in Joplin, Missouri. He spoke about the need to come together as a community and through the use of our strengths, we can find footing during tough times. This is one of those moments. Communities are coming together, proving that even when everything feels lost, we can rebuild, not just structures but trust, hope, and connection.
I believe in the power of humanity to rise, to take devastation and turn it into a story of resilience. My heart goes out to those affected, and my hope is that we all pause, reflect, and contribute—whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply remembering what really matters. Together, we can find a way to heal.
